Developmental Editing -editing that is done during the pre-writing and organization of the story. Developmental editors help authors create stronger stories.
Structural Editing - determining which elements in the rough draft are working and which need to be removed. Structural editing can add or remove entire chapters, scenes, characters, or plot points, or subplots.
Copy Editing –makes the story easier to read.
Line Editing – goes through the work line by line. A line edit focuses on sentences and paragraphs.
Proofreading – Checks for grammar, spelling, formatting and punctuation.
Fact Checking- makes sure the details are accurate.
